breath II

Through this new series of triptychs (oil on wood) I continue my exploration of matter’s mystery.  Allowing one, myself, to be worked upon by matter is at the heart of my research.  I particularly love experimenting with a diversity of wood species.  Painting connects me to matter, whether I am cast in a confrontational or communional stance, and through this artistic gesture, I also explore my body and my life, thus the raw material of humanity.  The more I paint, the more I see.  The more I see, the more I touch.  The more I live, the more I love.  I then discover a presence, this “other” reality emerging from matter, my body, my life.  With Souffle, I wish to share how I personally experienced a marvelous discovery of the “presence” at the heart of matter.
